I am a senior and I just received my Holiday Basket and I am sending this email to Thank You for your generosity. I am on a fixed income so after paying all my bills, I don't have enough funds to purchase groceries. This program is a "God Send" and I Thank You again from the bottom of my heart.

Good afternoon, my name is Miss Meceia Roberts and I was endeavoring to reach someone concerning the thanksgiving basket distribution this year. I remembered how blessed my son & I were last year and we were so grateful for what we received, but i couldn't remember who I spoke to until I just did an exhaustive search & remembered the wonderful fraternity brothers (there were 2 & they were very nice) that I spoke to last year and seeing the website jogged my memory. I would appreciate someone contacting me @ 202-399-1046 (the best way, my computer is incapacitated right now which is why i'm at the library sending you this message) anytime to let me know if you all will be able to assist us this year.
either way, I love that you do not only during the holidays but all throughout the year. keep up the good work. God Bless!

First of all I want to that it was a pleasure and a joy to be around so many positive people today at the Belle Multiucultural High School in Northwest DC this morning. I got up from my normal sleep in on Saturday and made the journey via GPS and was very pleased when I saw people already getting in motion and making things happen. As soon as I arrived people were speaking and trying to shake off the early hours and move forward with what we all came to accomplish today.

I was informed of this event by a brother whom has a vested interest in his community and is giving back with his time and effort to help others who may need that help but not know where to get it or are sometimes to ashamed to seek it. There were hundreds of volunteers there when I arrived and there were so many young people there that I think as a nation we are going to be ok. These young folks are not all as bad as lead to believe from the normally biased media outlets. There were many colleges represented and a very strong and excited Howard University contingent and just about every fraternity and sorority that you could name.

The goal this year according to founder Ransom Miller was to feed 1000 families throughout the DC, MD and VA area. Without the support of the many volunteers none of this would be possible and for this to be the 16th year when during t he very first year they fed 6 needy families is truly a blessing and shows that the human spirit is alive and well contrary to what you normally hear.

I took pictures for this even for about four hours and my time and materials are the way I was able to help this year as I recently had shoulder surgery and would not have been able to do much of the heavy lifting and pulling needed for this event. I met so many neat and positive people and what I learned today is that not too many people are camera shy as I had many request for photos and it was my total pleasure to oblige. Overall I was glad to be able to contribute in some way this year. I just moved back to the area from Illinois and I really am looking forward to future events to help out with and also to be able to donate in the very near future. If called upon or needed I will gladly seize upon the chance to be a part of future events to take pictures for this organization as needed.
